Air Show Weather Forecasts

What's the weather going to be like for the Miramar Air Show?

Welcome. If you're coming to the Air Show from outside San Diego, you may be wondering about the weather.

San Diego County has four weather zones: Beach or Coastal; Inland/Valleys; the Desert, including much of inland northern San Diego County (also known as North County); and the Mountains. The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper, click here for weather page) and major television stations (see list below for TV websites) provide detailed weather coverage, and most radio stations provide traffic updates for major arteries.

Typically, San Diego Octobers have cool mornings and evenings. There may be early patchy-to-dense fog along the coast or inland or both. By mid-morning, expect the fog and low-lying clouds to be burned off and the sun to be making itself seen in a clear blue or partly cloudy sky.

● If you are attending a Matinee Show, consider wearing sun protection including a hat. The cool climate and Southern California sun can be deceiving.
● A jacket or sweater is recommended for early morning and evening wear.

While rain is not common in October, light sprinkles may occur. October rainfall in San Diego averages just 0.04 inch for the entire month. An umbrella is handy as it will also provide protection from the sun. (Please be thoughtful and don't block the view of those around you.)

Protect your skin. While partly cloudy skies make for cooler air show viewing, sunscreen is recommended even if it is overcast. UV rays burn right though those cooling clouds, but the cooler temperatures make it easier to wear long sleeves and pants!

It's important to stay hydrated.  Remember that alcoholic beverages cause dehydration. Please drink responsibly.

Be sure you know where the Medical Tent is located, and go there immediately if you feel any signs of sunburn, dizziness or heatstroke (or notify an Air Show Staffer).

You can identify Air Show staffers by their Miramar Air Show polo shirts or t-shirts. All staff members can assist you. Many staffers have radios or headsets to provide quick answers or summon assistance if needed.
