RED BARON SQUADRON

The Red Baron Squadron has been thrilling millions of families for across the United State with its exciting aerobatic maneuvers at Air Shows and public events for more than 25 years. The Stearman A-75s flown by the squadron are authentic antiques, built of wood and fabric in the 1940s for use as trainers for Army and Navy pilots. Today, the Red Baron Squadron pilots bring barnstorming back to life by creating excitement with smoke and noise at many local fairs, festivals and community events. The Red Baron Squadron team consists of eight professional aerobatic pilots who undergo rigorous annual training and safety programs. During 2007 Red Baron Squadron will be comprised of four pilots; Bryan Regan (lead), Jayson Wilson (left wing), Matt Losacker (right wing) and Travis Aukes (slot).

JACQUIE B

Launching into the air show circuit at the age of 50 in a one-of-a-kind aircraft certainly qualifies Jacquie B. Warda as an extraordinary pilot. She holds the distinction of being the first female pilot to enter this business at 50 years young. Jacquie has logged over 1,500 hours of flying in a variety of aircraft including a Stearman, Sukhoi and Extra 300. Her favorite aircraft is her unique Pitts S-1T.  Her “Red Eagle” is one of three Pitts built to fly an air show around the Statue of Liberty during the 1986 centennial celebration.

JOHN PIGGOTT

John Piggott will entertain the audience with an extraordinary display of aeronautical maneuvers in the large 360 HP radial engine powered Russian Sukhoi Su-29. Watch for unusual and unique maneuvers that he has given special names, such as “Elena’s Cartwheel,” “Buster Brown’s Amazing Vertical Side Slide,” and even a wings-level 360° horizontal turn; something we’ve been told an airplane can’t do! Be sure to watch for John’s son, U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper West Demo pilot Capt. Russ Piggott as he performs in the F-16.

THE PATRIOTS TEAM

After painstaking restoration by the Airshows America team, The Patriots’ L-39 jets were modified for use on the air show circuit with upgraded avionics systems for navigation and communications, removal of excess weight for better air show performance, addition of a 25 gallon smoke oil system, and removal of their previous paint scheme. Sponsored by Fry's Electronics, the Patriots L-39s have electrified spectators with fast-paced formation flying and their signature "Tail Slide" maneuver where the aircraft actually slides backwards toward the ground, something you will not see from any other jet demonstration team.

  SHOCKLEY'S JET TRUCK
The ShockWave Jet Truck runs over 300 mph, racing airplanes at airshows; it holds the world record in a quarter mile for trucks at 256 mph in just 6.36 seconds; and holds the world record for full size trucks at 376 mph as recorded by Guinness Book of World Records. At 36,000 horsepower, the ShockWave has enough power to accelerate at three Gs vertical, which is as much as the space shuttle!

  SEAN TUCKER "ORACLE CHALLENGER"
Since beginning his air show career in the mid-70s, Sean Tucker has flown more than 700 performances at more than 300 air shows, in front of more than 60 million fans. In the upcoming season alone, Tucker and Team Oracle will entertain nearly 10 million fans at 25 shows throughout North America. "I like to think that I bring the fans' dreams of flying into the plane with me, and there's nowhere I'd rather be than in the cockpit. That's why I train so hard to keep the edge!"  Sean has logged over 20,000 hours flying, which if done all at once, would take over two years, 24 hours a day.  In 2003, he was named one of the 25 "Living Legends of Flight" by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.

BILL REESMAN

The MiG Magic Russian MiG-17F "Red Bull" performance is one of the top MiG acts in the Air Show industry, featuring a day-show 8-G aerobatic act with smoke generators and the world's only jet fighter night aerobatic, pyrotechnic act. Owner/pilot Bill Reesman is a retired Air Force pilot with over 1,100 hours in the MiG -17, possibly more than any other American pilot.

SMOKE-N-THUNDER

The Smoke-n-Thunder Air Force Reserve Jet Car is powered by a Westinghouse J-34 jet engine that develops 10,000 horsepower and 6,000 pounds of thrust. The car is made of aluminum and magnesium, weighs 2,300 pounds, is 26 feet long, and uses 40 gallons of diesel fuel for each performance. Scott Hammack is the designer of the Jet Car, the first jet-powered ground act to break into the air show industry. Scott Hammack’s wife, Linda, has been a full-time crew member for more than 10 years.

BRET WILLAT

Bret Willat flies "Sailplane Magic," based here in Southern California. If you think all a sailplane can do is big lazy circles, wait till you see Bret add some loops and rolls (with smoke). The show is set to music

STEVE STAVRAKAKIS

Veteran air show performer Steve “the WILD THING” Stavrakakis returns to thrill Miramar fans with his amazing “Tribute To The American Vet” Night Pyrotechnic spectacular. Don’t miss it as Steve loops and rolls through the night sky in his extremely rare Romanian IAR-823 warbird, the only one known to be flying air shows in the world! Steve’s tribute is his way of saying thanks to our service men and women, past and present.

JOHN HELTON

John Helton operates his 1940 Piper J-3 Piper Cub off the world's smallest aircraft carrier—a Chevy van with a landing platform on the roof.

DAN BUCHANAN

Dan Buchanan flies some of the quieter aircraft on the air show circuit, with a smooth, silent tow-launched hang glider and also a quiet, agile motorized wing for remote performances that are not near airports. Dan was a custom-home builder with an avocational love of flying until 1981, when he became paraplegic due to consecutive sporting accidents. Despite his handicap, Dan returned to flying just a year later and since then, his tenacity and adventurous spirit has allowed him to accrue more than 2,400 hours of flight time in hang gliders.
