Objectives of the Air Show

l To enhance community relations by opening the station to the public, to thank the community for their support of the Marine Corps by offering a free world-class air show, as well as the opportunity for community team-building through direct involvement in the Air Show.

l To educate the San Diego community about military and civilian aviation and the mission of MCAS Miramar, while promoting a positive image of both to the public, community leaders and decision makers.

l To support military recruiting efforts.

Air Show Community Relations
The Miramar Air Show is a two-time winner of the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) Dick Shram Memorial Community Relations Award. See Awards Page.

  SAN DIEGO FLEET WEEK
The mission of San Diego Fleet Week is t
o properly pay tribute to and thank San Diego’s military service men and women for “Serving America Twice” in the defense of our nation and as volunteers in improving the quality of our communities.

  MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION
The San Diego Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a charitable non-profit organization whose purpose is to grant wishes to children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18, who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. Our vision is that through outreach and education, every medically eligible child in San Diego and Imperial Counties has the opportunity for a quality wish experience. We believe in the "power of a wish."

BALBOA'S KIDS

The San Diego Armed Services YMCA serves the recreational, education, social, and spiritual needs of junior enlisted personnel, and their families, through a variety of programs and services in the San Diego area. Young patients at Naval Medical Center San Diego are invited to a special Blue Angels performance.

LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDREN
Every year Marine Corps Air Station Miramar extends an invitation for every school within San Diego County to attend the Miramar Air Show as our special guests. Miramar Marines value the relationships we have developed with the schools in the surrounding communities, and we want to take this opportunity to further demonstrate our appreciation of their support.

  MILITARY RECRUITING
All five military branches have a vested interest in the communities throughout Southern California. With numerous well-established military installations calling San Diego home the Miramar Air Show provides the local community with the opportunity to interact with their local recruiters and better understand the role the military plays in supporting the overall defense of our nation.

BLOODMOBILE
Both the San Diego Blood Bank and Naval Medical Center San Diego have found the Miramar Air Show a great location for interfacing with the community. In 2003, the Blood Bank conducted a successful bone marrow drive at the Air Show.
