Rick Soule is 2003 Recipient of ICAS Sword of Excellence
In recognition of his contributions to the professionalism of military air shows generally and air shows at NAS and MCAS Miramar specifically, Rick Soule was presented with the air show industry's single most prestigious award, the ICAS Sword of Excellence. From his pioneering efforts to change the relationships between military event organizers and air show concessions companies to his ongoing efforts to introduce basic business principles to the planning and execution of military air shows, Soule has single-handedly and largely anonymously set the standard to which
other military air shows have aspired.
"With a few exceptions, event organizers don't seek the spotlight and Rick is no exception to that general rule," said ICAS President John Cudahy. "But the behind-the-scenes work he has done and the professionalism he has brought to his shows at Miramar have fundamentally changed a significant portion of the air show business."
